Another adventure awaited me, this time on Alcatraz Island, and this adventure took all day. Many of us have heard about the famous Alcatraz. If you have yet to hear of Alcatraz, you should know that in the 1930s, the island was converted into a federal prison, Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary. I decided to take the Alcatraz tour, which was in the form of an audible narrative.
The tour was better than what I expected. It is a self-guided audio tour where you wear a headset and listen to directions on where to go around the prison. The audio tells you the stories of prisoners and even goes as far as to show you and let you go inside a prison cell. It was spooky and creepy!
You have to buy tickets in advance! Be sure to get there before the day you get there because there is a big chance there won’t be tickets on the day off.
So, to get to the island of Alcatraz, we took a boat, ferry, whatever you want to call it, and this adventure took the whole day! As we arrived on the island, I was daunted by how cold it was. Then I started thinking it would be tough to escape this prison on this island and swim across because the water around the island was freezing!
